Building in public

Hi, I'm Paloma Gallego Ortiz

Developer from Spain, based in Perth. Building dashrendr because expensive BI platforms shouldn't be the only option for startups that just need good-looking dashboards.

Why I'm building dashrendr

I'm a full-stack developer with 9+ years building backend and mobile apps. When I left my last role to look for new opportunities, the market was tough—so I decided to build something useful instead of just sending CVs.

Throughout my career, I've constantly needed analytics for demos and client dashboards. BI platforms like Tableau or Metabase cost thousands per month—way too expensive for startups. We'd already done the hard work: writing SQL queries, calculating metrics, processing data. But then we'd waste hours on simple requests: 'Can you change this color?' 'Move that chart over there.' It felt ridiculous.

I kept thinking: why isn't there something in between? Something where I send data via API and get back a professional dashboard—no database connections, no complex setup, just styled charts that work. That's dashrendr. It's the tool I wish I had back then.

What drives dashrendr

The principles guiding how I build

Developer-First

Built by a developer, for developers. API-first design, clear docs, honest pricing. No sales calls required.

Solve Real Problems

No feature bloat. dashrendr does one thing well: render beautiful dashboards from your API data. That's it.

Startup-Friendly

Transparent pricing that makes sense for bootstrapped teams. You shouldn't need enterprise budgets for good analytics.

Founder & Developer

Originally from Consuegra, Spain, now based in Perth, Australia. When I'm not coding, you'll find me swimming or skating. Right now, my days are split between building features, writing blog posts about SEO, and yes—still sending the occasional CV. Building dashrendr because I genuinely think it can help other developers avoid the dashboard headaches I've dealt with.
